About Us

The Beginning

It began with a violin—and a moment of compassion.

In February 2024, Leah Kim-Tomilson, founder of Music Angels Inc., was introduced to a retired music teacher who had lost both her daughter and her husband within weeks of one another. She was grieving, alone, and hurting.

Ms. Leah asked, “Would you like me to bring my violin and play for you?”

Through tears, she answered, “I would love that so much.”

As Ms. Leah played, something beautiful happened. For a moment, grief gave way to comfort. Loneliness gave way to connection. Music brought peace. Her fingers were dancing. That moment became the heart of Music Angels—a nonprofit founded on the belief that music can reach places words cannot.

We bring the gift of music to those who are hurting, lonely, or in need, while inspiring the next generation of musicians to discover that their greatest gift is their music

Music Angels Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is built on a foundation of community, compassion, and service.

We are a (non-paid) volunteer-driven organization, powered by passionate individuals who generously give their time, talent, and heart without compensation. When specialized care is needed, we partner with professional, credentialed music therapists to provide expert services. Together, we are united by a belief in the transformative power of music and a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Our hope is to accomplish:

  • Healing Through Music: Using music as a therapeutic tool for those facing challenges, providing a sense of peace, strength, and resilience.

  • Music Therapy Awareness (Education): Offering workshops and opportunities for individuals of all ages to learn about and thrive through music therapy.

  • Community Outreach: Bringing music to those who may not otherwise have access, by partnering closely with other non-profits and serving communities– from schools to hospitals, shelters, and beyond.

  • Supporting Young Talent: Nurturing the next generation of musicians through mentorship, performance opportunities, and scholarship.
